My kid is hard on stuff......... That is the same exact bearing the YFZ has and we have broken 3 input shafts in the YFZ, and I'm beginning to think the bearing failed then the shaft broke. Luckily I was installing a new Rekluse when I cought this. The clutch basket had a funny wiggle, so I took it off to check it and vola..............

Mine is a TM Designs one. The drain plug is the same as the one for the YFZ or the YZ450F. But on the YFZ450R, you need 2. The drain plug in the front of the motor is right by a screen that will catch the big chunks, but a magnetic plug there will collect the really small stuff.

Is this the same drain plug size on the yzf-r6 or yz250?

Am I dumb or what? Is there some loose metal stuck to the magnetic drain plug or something?

sorry the picture is so crappy. There are several pieces of the bearing cage stuck to the drain plug.
I was kind of in a hurry, as I had to do a complete teardown of the motor to retrieve all the pieces, and see if there is anything else wrong.
BTW........ I think it also ruined my speed sensor, as it now has a groove in the bottom of it, and the voltages are off.

FYI........... I used a GYTR drain plug in our YFZ. The magnet doesn't protrude from the bolt, and picks up less stuff, AND the aluminum used on the GYTR bolt is much softer than the TM Designs one, and strips out real easy.
Note.......... We are NOT sponsored by TM designs (but I wish we were).

for the YFZ450 and not the R you still need 2 plugs right? 1 for the tank and 1 for the engine? Are they the same size?

I guess it was the other guy talking about the R. Sorry........ I didn't read your question close enough. It's getting late.........
Anyway, on the standard YFZ, the oil tank uses a smaller bolt. I believe 8mm. But since the tank has a fine mesh screen on the intake hose, so you don't really need a magnetic drain plug. Just remove the screen and clean it every once in a while.
