Are you serious? No time for the cam mod? I can't see it taking more than 1/2 an hour. Just do it right before you next ride.
CMAT
In the time it has taken to start this thread, post and check the cam mod could have been done. Just go out and do it, it will only take 20mins
RoostItUp
Not everyone has the resources and familiarity to do it in 20 - 30 minutes.

pay my plane ticket and i'll do it for free....never been to detroit!

I'll come over and, kick out your walls and, shoot up your cars. No need for you to fly to Detroit. I'll bring Detroit to you.

LOL! So true!

yeah, if youre experienced and nothing goes wrong then it takes 20-30 mins.

but if you kinda know what youre doing and stuff DOES go wrong (which it always does) then it takes upwards of an hour IMO.

but it is STILL only an hour
Doc450r
props off to ya bro...that's a good one!

I was in Detroit for work a few months ago and we went out at night to Birmingham. That is a really nice area, in front of the bar we were at was a Bentley, 911 and SL500. Also was in royal oak which was very nice. Only the downtown is bad. My trip gave me a whole new outlook on detroit.

Hehe, so you're more worried about screwing up and having difficulties than you are of finding the time to do it?? :p Don't worry I'm sure whoever is on when you ask the questions will be more than happy to help. Do you have the service manual? If not, PM me and let me know and I can email it to you.
jundy314
ooo yea Birmingham is a great area, you will see all types of exotic cars in oakland county ( one of the richest countys in the us)... but yea im more worried about messing something up then anything else( i keep READING the MOON CLIP NIGHTMAR STORYS LMAOO) thats not helping me hahah .. and thanks roost but i do have a manual already.. i just need to go buy me a torque rench be4 i touch anything....

Sounds like you have done your research, knowing what to expect is key to preventing common mistakes. I don't think you will have a problem. Once you get it open and start working in there you will realize that it's easier than you thought. It's all a learning experience and a fun one at that! I did my cam mod within the first week of getting my YFZ in the summer of 2004 and I was just as nervous as you are, but I quickly realized that my worries were unjustified. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions!

thanks man im gonna do it tomrw ill keep you guys posted.. but i seen a dyno chart that said cam mod gives 7HP with no air box i dont think thats possible .. is this true?

Nah, you won't gain that much just doing a cam mod. It changes the power output characteristics more than anything else. You may get 1-2 more HP on the top end, but the biggest difference will be how the power comes on going from the mid to top end. You will notice a bigger punch. You will get more of a peaky curve rather than a broad one.
jundy314
yea i didnt think so.. thanks again dude.. but im excited to see the diff.. well see tomrw
