Has anyone used the Pro X OEM clutch kit? They sell it through Rockymountainatv.com. I'm curious how it stacks up to stock Yamaha, Tusk, ENC, Barnett & Hinson. I assume since it's OEM that it will pretty much be just as good as the Yamaha stock kit, but cheaper. My clutch is beginning to slip in the high RPM's and rarely it will slip completely out when under load climbing hills, so I need to get it replaced before it gets much worse. Any info would be greatly appriciated!

I can't comment on the Pro X kit, but the stock YFZ clutches are pretty stout and I would recommend doing the Clutch mod, where you replace the half fiber with a full fiber and get rid of the spring and thrust washer. I'll be running this setup with 8 YFZ fibers, 7 YFZ Steels and using YZ Clutch springs.

Just my .02

My stock clutch lasted 2 years of XC racing, a few MX races along with a few track days and plenty of hours trail riding.

what exactly does the clutch mod do and can you do it to the 450r?

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm not interested in the clutch mod. I don't wish to have more bite to my clutch, I really like the feel of the stock YFZ clutch. I really just want to know about personal experiences with this OEM Pro X Kit. Thanks for your input though. My stock clutch has lasted almost 5 years and I really liked the performance and life expectancy.

Please don't change the topic, stealing threads is very inconsiderate. This topic is about the Pro X OEM clutch kit for a YFZ. If you would like to know an individuals opinion on that than make a new topic.

Well if anyone wants to know, I got the pro-x clutch installed with EBC springs. It works much better than my old one, but obviously a new clutch should work better than a wore out one. I compared the clutch fibers and steel plates to the ones I took out. The fibers look exatcally the same, but the steel plates in the pro-x had more little divits pressed into them. I assume this is for more gripping power. Either way, so far I am VERY happy with this product. I will post if anything unexpected happens. So far I would recommend the pro-x oem kit.
