I really need new grips on my quad and i was wondering what people on here would suggest.
I dont need heated grips or anything like that. Just something that is comfortable, good quality & at most $30 or so...

Thanks much
SpillDaThrill
I have had spider, protaper, odi, and oury grips. My favorite grip so far has been the Oury Grip (bought from DFR). In my opinion they are the most comfortable and I never lose my grip with them

I like the renthal grips they are my favorite
TopGunYFZ450
Pro Taper Dual Compounds are a WIN in my books!
skidooman
When I used to race mx and sx on my RM125, the Renthal half wafers were my favorite. That was a number of years ago though.
DADDIO
ODI lock on. You'll never have to mess with grip glue again.
Joester
btw, what i do is wrap two layers of electrical tape around the grip, and then tape a WD-40 straw to my air compressor. slip the grip on a little then stick the straw under it and blow it up, twist it around where you want it and pull the straw out. i have never had it slip or rotate on me, and theres no messy grip glue to fail on you.

Well since i didn't get a majority vote on this then what i take from it is that it all depends on personal preference..

I'll be checking out some grips at the local motorsports shop and take a second look at the ones you guys mentioned..

thanks
Oregon's Finest
OURY
amstall
oury are my favorite for sure.

ODI's are the best grip's ive used yet. 100% grip but the only bad thing is they are wider than most grips due to the locking mechanism. so you have to move your controls in just a little bit. but its worth it when your not always a having your grip's slip, or come off.

I second that.

If you get the ODI's, I recommend using loctite for the threads. I thought mine were tightened as much as possible until the throttle side slid off once when I landed during a jump (a little scary). The bolts had vibrated loose, so from then on I made sure to use loctite on them.... until I got rid of them for OURY's! Click to view attachment

i'm interested in hearing why you guys swear by OURY so much.

i've run stock grips, Pro Taper Full Diamond, Pro Taper Half Waffle and Pro Taper Full Waffle. Now i'm back to Half Waffle (stock type grip made by Pro Taper)

i have yet to come across that i didn't like, but then again, i've never come across a grip that i swore by. its what i ride with. i don't recommend them or not recommend them. i just ride with them.

so why do people swear by OURY? or Spider? and Pro Taper has a new Pillow Top. anyone ride those yet?

i also have a pair of brand new in the box ODI's for sale as well.

SpillDaThrill
I enjoy my OURY's for a few reasons.
1st - Their big block pattern is easy to grip and I never feel my hand slipping on them.
2nd - The thickness of the grip makes my hand feel more comfortable on the bars. The stock grips and even spider grips were too thin for my liking as it felt like I was literally grabbing a metal bar with a very thin piece of rubber on it.
3rd - The thickness combined with the compound of the grip makes it soft which helps my hands absorb the impact better. My hands are actually less sore when I use these grips.
I used these grips with my twinwall bars and I loved them. Now I have the flexx bars, and combined with the OURY grips, hard landings and harsh bumps are much easier on my hands then they ever were with stock style grips/handle bars.

Hope that helps..... I could go on for longer probably but I'll stop now.... blahblah.gif

no worries.

all those points are understandable.

but i kinda like the thinness of my grips. i don't think i would be comfortable with a thick griip like the ODI, OURY, or Spider. i feel like they would be too fat. but like anything else, i'm sure i could get used to it.
SpillDaThrill
Yea, personal preference is all it really is. If you like the thin feel, then just stick with it.
I ended up loving the thickness but it doesn't mean everyone will.

i might try the Pro Taper Pillow Tops when i need new ones.

so i guess after all this that and the other, i'm partial to Pro Taper.......... :)
YFZ450Tacoma
I just bought some Renthals as thats all they had at the motorsports place i went to.
But i'll be checking out different types. i think the pillow top and/or thicker grips might work for me..
only one way to find out.

Thanks again guys.

These are what I'm getting, I think they look cool with the colored rings:
Oregon's Finest
Spiders for thin grips or OURY for nice plump ones
NEPAmx
i prefer odi grips. i like the wider feel. no need for that wire garbage either
GREGORY_B
Oury Grip our best
king450
I like the OURY grips also, they have a great feel for me and they are nice and cushy! They seem to last a long time also, think I've got about 30 hrs on my current set now and still going strong!
YFZracer61
Oury for me. Gonna give spiders a shot next just to try em
TPR
I think your Oury guys are crazy shocker.gif Those grips used to tear my hands up so bad.

I switched to Spider A3 from Renthals and will never use another grip other than Spider again. They are thick yet soft and offer great grip and clean out from mud, and they last forever.

Spider Grips all the way.

scott hurricane is by far the best grip ive ever tried and wont try anything else, the thin spiders were to thin for my hands(5"11 not that big hands) and gave me blisters, fat ones are way to big. scott is about the same thickness as stock or very slightly thicker but has a nice gel feel. its only around 6$ at rockymountain.
YFZ450Inferno
I run ODI Rogue grips, no glue no hassle, bad arse! check 'em out
Blackedyfz450
ODI rogue
07BLACK450
Pro Taper dual synergy are the only ones i use.
yammy93
Pro Taper Dual Compounds r sick grips but the last 2 seasons ive just gotten the cheapy 15$ scott grips and i havnt had ne problems with them at all, they not expensive at all and they look great, feel great and keep ur hands where there suppose to be, great all round grips imo

pro taper pillow tops are absolutely amazing I have them on both of my bikes and both of my quads! they are soft and very durable. I've had them on for for a good few months and still look like new. I love these grips and never lose grip of my handlebars through the trails.

i hate pillowtops! Never ahain will i buy them! I got GIANT blisters last weekend from the track.

My brother just bought the new Renthal Kevlar grips. They've held up really well and havent gave him blisters or anything so i might try those. Either Kevlar or Oury's for me soon

lol mine are too but i was just at a track on sunday (check out my thread http://yfz450.theatvchannel.com/invision/i...c=97195&hl= lol) and i got like half inch blisters on top of my calluses. They hurt so bad lol

And thats with pretty good gloves too
etmccain

Oury grips all the way for me...they are pretty thick so guys with small hands might not like them...Spiders are too thin for me but seem to be a high quality grip...but for me personally Oury gets my vote due to their size, durability, and the soft gel feel doesn't give me blisters
07HOOLIGAN
I got the kevlar ones and they give me blisters when riding hard for a long time, but they do hold up good.

I think I'm going to try ourys next. Are all of them bigger? I don't like small grips.
ADMAN
I just burnned through 3 sets of grips trying to find something I liked. The Scott half-waffle dual-compund with no ring sucked w00ter. I hated them. So, I finally bought an additional set of Haro BMX grips - like I run on everything else. My hands are used to them. They grip like crazy and are a little longer and thicker too. Perfect...
jwyfz450r
I have the fat bars, looking for ODI lock-ons for them. Anyone know if they make 'em for the fat bars?

i have a brand new pair for sale.

let me know if you would like to buy them
Sam66
I like my pro taper pillow grips a lot. I was getting some nasty blisters with my renthal full diamond mediums but none to speak of with the pro tapers. They are very soft on the other hand and after about 10 hours at the track they show do show some wear.
YFZER359
my bro bought Pro Taper full waffles and i actaully dont mind them. they look really punishing but once you start using them they soften up really nicely.

To clear it up, someone please answer this, do you absolutely need ATV specific grips? or will dirtbike ones fit?

Here, there isnt the greatest ATV grip selection (hence the full waffles), the dirtbikes have a great selection. And ordering a $12 dollar grips isnt really worth it.
BansheeSlayer
i run the spider jetski grips. they are comfy and have very little vibration. my only complaint is that there isnt that end piece by the throttle that sticks up to protect your upper thumb area. i just run the donuts though.
ATV24/7
i just switched to oury's and love them so far! i had pro taper med compound half waf. and tehy kept wearing our quick, but were pretty good!
