YFZCentral > :::General Discussion::: > Other Yamaha quads!

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations on which mini quad I shpuld get for my 5 year old. I have done a little research and I am leaning towards the raptor 90. However I am a little bias being a yamaha guy. Has anyone heard anything on the ETON's. They are a little cheaper. Thanks for the help.
Black Hornet
only problem I see with the raptor 90 is it has a very low top speed. I really like the cobras

I have a 5 year old and a 9 year old daugthers and they both have honda trx90's. I know there hondas but they have plenty of power for them and there are a ton of upgrades you can do to them. They also have been making the motor for about 40 years so it's bulletproof. I really like them.

+1. Honda is a damn good brand and there is alot of upgrades for the trx90
gas it!!
hate me if you want.

i bought two 110cc's for my 6 and 8 yr old's. they are JetMoto's (supposedly the Honda motor) Renegade.
they start right up every time and get a pretty good speed.

the suspension sucks but the kids don't weigh much. the battery's aren't very good, so i replaced those. now the chain is stretched so i need to dump a link.

besides those really small problems they are perfect. i spent $1200 for both. finding two Honda's, Yamaha's, etc for $1200 is impossible.

they won't ride them for long for i wasn't spending 3k or more for them to have something to ride for two years.

I'm glad you had good luck with the jetmoto's cause my sister bought one for my neice and it's the biggest piece of crap there is. She got the 125 and it has no power, my daugthers trx90's blow that thing away. If you look around you can get good deals on the 90's. I paid 1000 for my '05 and 1350 for the '03. I see them all the time on craigslist around me for around 800 and up. They are all the same until you get to '06 then they put e-start on them. Otherwise the only thing that changed was the plastics. I figured when my kids outgrow these I will be able to resell them for almost what I paid for them. Good luck on doing that with those jetmotos.

ya, maybe this cc is the better option. maybe the 125 is too heavy. the 110's seem to move pretty damn well. even with me on them.

i looked at 90's for months. i'm in CA and i couldn't find anything for less than $1200. and i couldn't afford two. even if they were $800 a piece i wouldn't have been able to do it. i still had to buy two kids worth of gear. i won't buy used helmets, especially for my kids.

i'm pretty happy so far.

i know that if i would have bought a Honda or Yami or any other name brand, i could easily have sold it when i was done for what i paid. the little ones hold their value very well. plus they can take a serious beating. but i had to look at my current budget. the only thing that really sucks is, if either one of them has a semi bad crash, the frame will be twisted to all hell. the materials on these bikes is junk.

but you get what you pay for.
i'm good with letting them wreck a $600 bike. then we'll start looking at bigger and better when they can handle it.

but!

if you can afford the name brand, i say get it.
i would have bought a TRX or Predator if i could have.
but i have no regrets.

Ya the name brand bikes are a little expensive even when there used. But hey at least you got the little guys riding and that's all that matters.

i like the kasea 90's ... if you can still find one ... they are 1,500 new ... but they stop making them .. or selling them in 06 with the rest of the 2 strokers ... but my son loved it ... he would race honda 90 and yamaha 80's all the time and just spank them ... its the only stock 90 i know of that can handle the dunes ... i dont mean cirles around the camp im talking in the dunes ....
