i am just wondering if your gonna be doing any research and development because i plan on getting a new yfz450r and would like to know what kind of services your gonna be proiding for this quad
mixxer
the engine is largely the same except for cam timing and what's mixing the fuel with the air.....

so besides cams and fuel injection, the basic engine is the same configuration...... the first year of any machine always has the most "teething pains" to be sorted out.... my plan is to buy a 2010 model for the shop... after all the first year service bulletins and updates are done.....
sand scorpian
thats awsome well from what i watched on the yfz450r media website was that the motor was completely redesigned or something like that i dont know but it is a sick machine cant wait till you get that 2010 see what kind of maddness you can get out of it
Stix1107
the head design changed if im not mistaken.
mixxer
the top of the intake tract will normally be re-designed to accomodate the injector's flowpath...
Blackedyfz450
how are the cams different? better the the normal yfz?
mixxer
i've only read that they are similar to the latest offerings from hot cams...the stage 3's...... i don't really know though

The intake cam lobes are way smaller than the standard yfz. They also have more of a point to them, if that makes sense. They are less rounded. The exhaust cams look to be the same by the eye. I posted a pic of the intake tract in the pics section if you care to see!
mixxer
yep.... the top of then intake port has been changed to allow for the injector's flowpath.....!

you should have dyno'd the bike to get a good before and after comparison.... that would have been nice to see...
02raptor_rider
Yeah, I would have liked to. There isn't a dyno anywhere near me that I am aware of.

Mixxer, what do you think about the intake cam? Yamaha kept saying how they designed everything to give more bottom and mid. Could that be it?
mixxer
the weak point of the 5-valve head design has always been bottom and midrange torque production.....

no aftermarket cams have been able to do anything other than kill the bottom to mid just to add some to the top....(until the Hot Cams stg 3).... and the cams have typically taken more away from the bottom and mid than they have added to the top....

i'm sure this is what yamaha has addressed in the new cams.... more power for MX and GNCC useful midrange pull...

you can't run @ peak revs till you pull through the midrange

Wait till you guys see what yamaha has in store for 2010 in its other offroad markets....
