Think again, with the right combo, they can be made way too fast for a 4-stroke.

dude a banshee done right runs hard....
but idk if this queers 89 banshee with crapy head work can keep up.
i think 1/8th mile i have a chance.
by the time he throws 6th(which is where he should take me) we are 2 far down the track for it to make a difference

Jan 16 2009, 05:59 PM

I think you should video the race and post it up after the fact. Do you have a chance? Sure. I'm not saying it will be a blow out, especially in a 1/8 mile race. Skill will play a huge factor. Video it, or all the races and post them up.

Only way to find out for sure is to go bar 2 bar with him.
Half ass built YFZ350's are scary fast in a staright line, there's no doubt about that. If he kicks your a** at the drag, tell him you want to make a couple hot laps on the local mx track for redemption. Assuming you are an equally skilled rider, it shouldn't even be close when you bring suspension in play.
Sounds like you want to know for sure that you're going to win before you race. What's the thrill in winning a race you know you will beforehand? You've got a chance, so race! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I personally hate these kinds of posts. What came first, the chicken or the egg? Too many factors, too many unknowns to ever be able to come close to predicting any kind of outcome. I wish you the best and hope you win. It is a no lose situation, I love Yamaha's, and one way or another, a Yamaha is going to come out on top, period.
My future suggestion? Line em up, wind it out, drop the clutch, and see who come out on top, all while someone films it. Then, you can post the results and make necessary changes if the results were not what you wanted.
The real issue here is honesty. People lie about what they have in their quads. I, personally, do not ever lie, I will tell you exactly what is in mine. I have been beaten badly by 'stock 250r's' and have beaten modded Banshees, so when it all is said and done, it really doesn't matter......You win some, you lose some...

^^^He's a true tuning fork boy!!!!,
I hate these post as well because its more fun to win out of pure surprize than to have 30 of us say "hell yea you'll smoke him, or no chance at all man,"
Go out there and plant your ass on the back of the seat and pinned the sob until you cross the line!

Shaving a the Banshee head for increased compression won't be too effective on stock pipes, you running stock pipe too? Now slap some T5 or PC pipes on the Shee, ditch the airbox, replace the air filter & go up on jetting with a tooth dropped on the front sprocket and that Banshee might be pulling away everytime it hits the powerband!

he has some T5's or T3's i think and a k&n fliter with the lid off if im not mistaken. the only good knows is i think he is still on stock reeds.
