Just found out a couple weeks ago that DBMX changed hands, and improvements are being made. I met a couple of the new people involved last Sunday and they seem like a good bunch of guys. WPSA raced there up until '07 I believe, and I'd say they'll try to get something of that caliber back soon. WPSA is busted as I understand.
I'm gonna start practicing there with a couple bike guys, just wondering if anyone in KY or TN from Central is going to be around ther this upcoming season. I'm trying to spread the word a little for these boys.

Daniel Boone was on the national schedule for years, and as I remember it was always a very popular track with riders.

I will be there this season. I'm only about 1.5hrs from there. I use to race it a lot. I'm on bikes now, so I'll be there a lot practicing this spring. If anyone wants to try to get a group together to ride, just let me know. I'll be there. kymxracer52@yahoo.com

It's about 1.5 hours for me as well. I'll be there practicing this spring, I might race a little, just depends on what kind of shape I can get myself and the quad in by March. I hear they are going to do alot of work in the next couple weeks, the guy who's doing the work hauled his dozer in the other day. Look me up in the spring.
What part of KY are you from?

that track is bada$$!!! i raced there with the WPSA in 07, and it was a favorite of many riders. Im sure all the national boys would love to go back to Daniel Boone. i remember the 4th ger pinned uphill triple.... i was too much of a sissy for the table for two, but the uphill was sweet.

Was "Big Bob" there in '07? I'm thinking it came with the new owner, that's a BIIIG jump, I haven't heard of anyone on 4 wheels clearing it yet (it's quite a bit longer than the table of two). I think the uphill triple you're talking about is gone now. They've already made some changes, but I'm not sure what, since I didn't know the track before.
Why did WPSA pull out? I know they're belly up now, but I think they pulled out before that happened.

I'm right next to Lexington. I love DBMX probably better than any other outdoor track I've been to except Muddy Creek. I have hit the Table of Two a few times on my Cannondale I use to have. It's a massive jump. Its one of those that you need to have your run set up right out of the turn in order to clear it good. The times that I jumped it, the track was a rutted mess. I'm sure on National days its a piece of cake. To me, it was like blitzing through a whoop section, then right up the face.
Right now, I need to get into shape to race this bike I have. I feel pretty confident on it, but still need a lot of practice. I'm not sure which class to even race. Not sure how I would do in 'B' class. Are any of you guys riding up at Earlywines this winter?

I'm in Winchester, I've practiced up a Earlywines a couple times, but I'm just too out of shape right now to race! I was a Taylor yesterday with a buddy (couldn't practice), no quads this year, I like that layout a little better than Earlywine.

I just found out about Taylor's a couple weeks ago. I plan on making a trip up there soon. What kind of jumps do they have? Is it setup similar to Earlywines? I don't believe they have any pics up on their site yet. Did you take any?

Nah, I didn't take any pics. I'll go up one night later in the week, if I remember I'll get some pics. I can't ride it, like I said, so I'm just basing this on what I saw from the staging area. The track was groomed really well. It's a faster track than Earlywines. The whoop section is long, the whoops looked real consistent. There are a couple of decent size jumps (for indoor). It seems like the jumps in general, put you a little farther in the air than at Earlywine. The set-up is quite a bit different as well. There are two lanes that run the full length of the building. At Taylor you go 180 4 times whereas at Earlywine you go 6. The track footprint is a little narrower and longer than Earlywine. I have only ridden Earlywine twice and haven't ridden Taylor at all, so take this for what it's worth. Taylor seems like it lays out better for a bike, Earlywine seems like a better layout for a quad.

Sounds like I need to get up there. Was there a lot of people there when you went? What kind of bike does your friend ride? Is he a fast rider?

yeah the uphill triple im talking about was the same one that was there for years i know that much. table for two is huge, and yeah you better know your hittin it waay before you go into the turn. i think i could do it now, new suspension setup and a TC national motor, so i would be more confident that on my old stock rear shock and stock motor...

oh and the WPSA just ran out of money. They still have the snowmobile racing (someone correct me if im wrong) but the rumor was they had a bunch of money that they never paid out. The WPSA owed several tracks in the tens of thousands of dollars. So therefore they simply couldnt get the venues together to make a schedule.

There were about 40 bikes, that included everybody. It seemed like you got to to out about every 30-40 min. There weren't very many A riders out, I hear that weekends are usually more crowded than what it was yesterday. There was an ax race in Dayton yesterday, so the turnout wasn't great at Taylor. When I was there Thursday night, there were only 5 250s and about three little kids out (it was 19 degrees inside the building). So if you want to avoid a crowd, I'd say weeknights are best.
My friend has a kx250 and a 450f, the 450 is getting fork seals a some other stuff done, so he's been riding the 250 indoors. He's pretty good considering he's only been on a bike for two years. He races 40+ class outdoors in the state series & I think he runs some lites races too. He's got a lot of speed in him, he just needs more seat time. He's not as fast as the younger guys, but he's competitive in his class. I'll be happy if I can ride his pace when I'm 42.
You should definately check it out.

Sounds like they're getting good turnouts. Do you guys usually go up there every week?

Fred tries to go up twice a week. I've only gone up the last two times he's gone. I'll probably go up one night this week, just depends on what I've got going on, I need to get the YFZ back together.

So they have open practice?? do you have to buy a member ship? I live about 4 hours north in ohio, and would go down there on a friday and leave on a sunday. What do you think that would cost me? i could sleep in my trailer. It will be about a month, gotta get a motor together.

oh yeah... And the corner before the table for two was trashed when we were there too. I know hwat you mean about the "whoops" cus at the nationals (imagine over 500 quads) all the tracks get trashed.
