for yous that have gotten a pm saying iam having issues with a motor i did this summer is true. i built a flat track motor with a ported head, piston, and cams. when i shipped the motor back to the customer it got damage during shipping, so i told the customer lets try to run the motor and see whats going to happen, motor ran good for about 3hrs and they started to burn oil so i then contacted ups for an insurance claim which was granted, had the customer box it up and send it back to me to see what was cuasing the oil burning, i then ran the motor on the dyno and everything looked normal, good a/f good hp and torque numbers, we then ran it for about 5hrs here at the shop to make sure everything was ok, sent the motor back to the customer and guess what it started burning more oil, so i called the customer and said i would fly out to his place and resolve the issue, he they contacted me saying they could replace what needed to be done, which i sent a new 95mm ttm piston 12:5, and an new oem cylinder. they installed it and tried to fire the motor and it would start but when they pulled it it would start until you hit the gas, i told him to check the timing once more and they said it was dead on, at this time i was very busy and couldnt get out to him so i sasid i would send a call tag to ship back to me, i got the motor last thursday and the first thing i noticed was the intake cam off one tooth, i put the timing back on installed into one of our frames and it started right up, we than dynoed it again to check a/f numbers and everything is good, we than ran the motor here for about 3-4hrs until the wrist pin came out of the rod and caught the cylinder and ruined the piston, crank and new cylinder, i never have see a pin come out like this so i started thinking, so i split the cases and cant find the wrist pin clips anywhere, so i built the motor back and this is where iam at today finishing the motor. yes sh!t happens and remember i havent once asked the customer for more money or anything other than the orignal motor cost of 1150.00
i have been pulling my hair out with this one and i new it was coming that someone would start running me in the ground.
i want this to be in the open so everyone can see this cause iam not hidding anything from anyone, i have many happy customers on here and this is the first motor i have had issues with and i am taking care of the customer anyway i can. thanks for taking the time to read this and if this causes anyone to stay away from iam deeply sorry for all this, thanks derek

Hi ~ This is the customer's parent. I need to say that Derek has been EXCEPTIONAL in taking care of these issues for us. He has been available by phone and his service has been of the HIGHEST QUALITY thoughout!!! As his customers we are extremely saddened and deeply disappointed that someone has unfortunately taken it upon themselves to make comments regarding this situation when it was NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS and their knowledge of the issue was limited at best. We are aware who this individual is and will be addressing this ASAP with this individual. Our sincere apologies to Derek/TTM Racing for any anquish this has caused him and his professional staff. Derek has shown OUTSTANDING service throughout this... and as he said... w00ter happens. We are working thru everything will complete cooperation on both sides and never intended for this to have any sort of backlash on him. I would personally like to recommend Derek/TTM Racing's service to anyone. We have received nothing but TOP QUALITY service and are confident in his quality of work overall. This has just been one of those situations and these things happen. Once again, our sincerest apologies to Derek and the TTM Racing staff for any upset caused by the irresponsible comments of one person. You have our vote for TOP NOTCH service. If you are considering doing business with Derek/TTM Racing... please do not let the immaturity and irresponsibility of one young rider's comments deter you. Derek/TTM Racing has our highest recommendations... you will not be disappointed.
Personal note to Derek and his staff at TTM Racing ~ Thanks so much for your continued professional and dedicated efforts with this and all your outstanding work for the teams/individuals you support. Your service is to be admired by all who are lucky enough to receive it. We are completely confident that everything will work out. Thank you for bringing this to our attention... it will be taken care of this on our end and quickly snuffed out. You will have our highest regards with future referals. God bless and Merry Christmas.

I do not think you would intentionally try and screw anyone, your customer service is out of this world. 90% of the people out there wouldnt accept responsibility, or try and fix this after they received the motor back the first time.
I think you went above and beyond here, and you not charging any extra is just awesome. If anyone is deterred away from your business because of this then they dont deserve to have one of your motors.
Thank you for all the help you've given me, even though i am not your customer, and for all of the great deals and service you have provided to this site.
keep it up Derek!

I agree my first motor i ever had built and installed by a place in PA they never tighten the main oil drain olt and about 2 laps into the race it came out and BOOM. now of couse they said the never took that botl out but of course how do u split the cases adn change oil without daining the oil... needless to say they didnt cover any of it basically told me sales are fianl when it leaves there shop its my motor.
So The customer service dereck has provided is so far beyond anything ive ever dealt with theres no way i would go anywhere else to get a motor work.
And the people sprending the rumors or whatever you probally dont want to deal with anyway. And people are goign to bad mouth companies theres deff. not a perfect company out there.

never really thought about having work done on my 450 cuz I thought it was fast enough but after hearing this I would have no worries sending it off like I would be sending it to anyone else. I just could never imagine sending my motor off and not getting it back, I would be done riding for a long time.
THumbs up for TTM

After reading this I would have to say that regardless of what happened it's great to see the 2 parties working together patiently to resolve this until BOTH are happy.
Dereck, I applaud your service and dedication! If I ever decide to send mine out for something, you will defiantly be considered!
jessie, Thank you for taking the time to register and come on to help sort this out. You have completely set this straight and there will be no doubt that the fluffer on here stirring crap will be ignored.

Well.... I don't know what to address first about all this. I guess I'll start with TTM and their customer service. Top notch in my book. I think Derek has gone well above and beyond what he could have and that is very great. Even after I see some things were not his fault, and still taking good care of his customers. Thanks TTM for supporting this site as you have and the way you are dealing with this. It says alot about your personal commitment and service toy our customers.
Now.... as far as these rumors and pm's..... what can I say. If it is not your business you best stay out. I do notlike to hear about bad mouthing of sponsors and to go to the extent of it being 3rd party...well... again, you best just stay out of it. It looks to be handled and I'd rather not hear of this going on again.
Derek, if you need anything pm me.

I have delt with Derek and he is the man. His customer service is top notch and it work it out standing. And now a days it is very hard to get both. Im sure alot of people do good work, but when it comes to dereks customer service i dont think that it can be touched, unless you PERSONALLY know the person you are dealing with.......

this goes out to you TTM......

That is downright amazing. If I ever consider engine work and am too lazy to do it myself, it's going to this guy! I hate having to worry about whether or not something is going to work out and whether or not the company is going to screw me over!

A retailer engine builder willing to fly to someones home just to find out what the problem was?? That is AMAZING to say the least, you can bet your behind that is a RARE feat and you would be hard pressed finding someone else who wouldnt just leave you hanging as "your motor now" attitude. Great service guys, good story.
