ya bro, lesson learned for sure.
no i couldn't fix it out there. i'll have to split it up just to get to it i think.
i was stuck in first. at least i could ride it back. even though i wasn't that far out. 5 min or so like i said. if i would have broken it in 2nd i could have ridden all weekend no problem.
i'm pretty close in comparison i guess. i'm about 4 hours away.

funny thing is, that shift lever was brand spanking new. that was its first ride.
truth is, i'm not totally sure what caused this.
1: i have a bad habit of kicking down into gears too hard
2: i run my lever kinda high because i worry about not fitting my boot in under it, plus i can't really roll my foot up to shift so i lift my whole leg. therefore i keep about an inch or so between my boot and my lever, so kicking it too hard while its up really high could have just been too much. plus i'm not sure if i had it a little higher that my last lever, i didn't check it. i jumped on and i could shift like i was shifting before. i figured i was good as long as i was comfortable. so if it was higher than the last one, and i was used to applying a certain amount of ballpark pressure on it while pushing it down a certain amount inches i could have just kicked too hard while having mounted too high.
3: its too thick and has no flex. maybe my previous levers were flexing
4: maybe i've been kicking it too hard from the get go and its been getting weaker and or flexing and twisting, and that time was the end of the line for it.
so with all that, i'm not sure if i want to keep the lever or not.
i could just go back to the old lever i had, but i think what really needs to happen is.............i need to shift much much w00ter*ing softer.
i'm debating.

I did the same thing on the Coos Bay dunes. I came down on my shift lever off a jump and ended up stuck in 4th gear for the ride back... My clutch was nice and warm when I got back...

They are talking about the gear shift lever, not the actually kick start lever available for the yfz.
