So what is the difference between pro-am production and pro-am unlimited? Production costs $85 and unlimited costs $40 so I'm gussing production is harder and is the "bigger" of the two? I am looking forward to racing pro-am at redbud but I dont wanna look like a pu**y racing unlimited if unlimited isnt even hard.. so whats the diff?

And what other classes can you race if you race pro-am ... anything A class?

Just did a little research on the atva website. hope this helps a little

ATVA Amateur Supplemental Rules

A. RIDER ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION:

All current ATVA Competition members or AMA full members, in good standing, may compete as follows:

1. Pro Am Production Class

a. Pro Am Production will be the sole gage for advancement to the AMA Pro ATV division. To be eligible to apply for an AMA Pro Racing license a rider must accumulate 150 points based on the points scale provided in the supplemental rule package for the ATVA Amateur National Motocross Championship.

b. Class is a purse paying class.

c. Both motos will be held on Sunday.

d. Riders competing in the class may only compete in the Pro Am Unlimited as an additional class.

2. Pro Am Unlimited Class

a. Class is a trophy class.

b. Both motos will be held on Saturday.

c. “A”, Age divisions, and Pro Am Women are eligible for class.

3. "A" Classes

a. All “B” class championships in the previous year’s ATVNMX.

b. All "B" riders ranked in the top three of their class earning at least 50% of the points earned by the class champion in the previous year's ATVNMX. Ranking is based on year-end series points and not the banquet awards.

c. Riders that have an "A" ranking in any other motocross series. This applies to both AMA and non-AMA sanctioned events.

d. Pro Am Women may compete in “A” classes.

The AMA Equipment Standards List in Chapter 3 of the Amateur Competition Rule Book applies. In addition, the following apply:

1. Maximum machine width is 50”.

2. Tether Cords and Nerf bars or suitable floorboards are required.

3. Control levers must have ball ends; axle nuts must have cotter pins or clips; glass components/lights must be covered; horns, bells or other sound devices are not permitted.

4. Sound: Machine sound level may not exceed 99dbs as measured by the stationary sound test procedures, SAE J1287.

5. Fuel: only petroleum-based gasoline as defined by the American Society for test and materials (ASTM), designation: D4814 may be used. All fuel must be stored in approved containers.

6. Machines may be bored or stroked in order to increase engine displacement, so long as the engine size is stamped on the case and the class limit is not exceeded, i.e., 400cc engine may be increased to a maximum of 450cc in the 450 class.

7. All machines are subject to random equipment inspections any time prior to, during or after the event. Displacement will be measured at the end of the meet.

8. The machine a rider competes on in the first moto is the official machine of the rider for that event, and may not be switched during the event. Provided, however, that the engine may be changed during the event, so long as it is replaced with an engine of the same make, model and displacement.

either class, dude you better bring your A game. Those guys are fast as hell and will run you off the track. Im not knockin you at all, but you wont look like a pu**y running unlimited because chances are, they will take you to school.
chadkrash382
OOHH yeah and be ready for that G-force axle to break... and i hope you have some crazy motor work done because you will need it. Im not saying you wont keep up with them, i mean Good Luck to you.... I just know they are not joking around. This is their life and they take it VERY seriously
David350
Yeah, most of the top guys run production and unlimited for extra seat time. Thomas Brown, Cody Gibson, Clay Holmes, Mitch Reyonlds, etc. they are just as fast as most pro riders.

So yeah, either one is going to be fast as hell
chadkrash382
hahaha they are FASTER than most pro riders......just dunno if they could do it for 12-16 laps
Jim417mx
Well the only reason I think I can qualify is because 3 guys I know from the local track that used to ride for 4play racing qualified for pro-am at redbud (not to mention shane cochran qualifying for pro at redbud and finishing mid pack) and when I'm in tip top shape I can hang with the 3 pro am guys, but as far as shane hes usually 30 seconds ahead or more. I'm not bragging saying I'm fast and that I would for sure qualify but I'm just the type of rider that goes faster if I'm riding with faster people.. like by myself I look slow but if theres somebody in front of me going faster, I can be a lot faster than normal just trying to keep up, but I can never get around them to pass... But seeing as how I JUST found my broken CDI wire and I havent riddin in 4 weeks, I'm just going to run 4strokeA and 450 A... icon_neutral.gif
chadkrash382
broken cdi wire huh??? damn that was easy. lol... And just so you know, You can be right behind someone at a local race but that same person may blow you away at nationals.. I am the same as what you said- im a good chaser. with fast people in front of me, i can keep right up with them, but im not aggressive enough to block pass them, so i never get around them. And if your talking about redbud last year, wasnt most people at WPSA?? theres alot of people that qualified last year in alot of races but would never have a chance if everyone would have been there.. know what i mean?? 4stroke A and 450 A is a better choice, but still a fast class... B class is just as fast as A class nowadays so its all the same really...
gtilley45
In my opinion, if you aren't the fastest person in your area..............you don't need to be in either Pro-Am class at a national.
Jim417mx
Hey your right, I took 27th out of 31 in 4-stroke A. Its amazing how much faster nationals got within 2 years. I qualified for B class in 06 with no problem and got 14th. Now I feel like a C rider icon_frown.gif
quadracer420
^^ Thats how they go. I used to run production b and 450b at nationals, My lowest finish was 11 out of 20 and my best was 5th. Those guys are FAST but it only helps to ride with faster ppl.
