My buddy has a 87 LT 250R and the shift lever through the side case popped out. My question is that there has to be a clip or retainer that holds that in the side cover that popped off right? Also what kind of oil do they run in the case. we are going to try and fix it tonight, any help would be appreciated.

as far as the clip you might take a look at riva parts finder for a exploded view and part numbers , for oil run a belray gear saver 85 wt or if you are looking for a little nicer shifting use redline light weight shock proof

I kinda figured as much on the oil, thanks for the reassurance. That riva site is great thanks for the link on that. It showed me the exploded view of the clutch setup and it sure looks like there is a blt that holds tha shaft in kinda like a raptor. I have not loked a it yet i'm waiting for my buddy to bring it over right now. Thanks again for the help

I would use Maxima MTL 80 wt 2 stroke tranny fluid. works great!
