So today i decided to go to the track for a few hours ,and after a couple of hours of riding my bottom shock bolt decided to back off and slide right out. this decided to happen about 15 feet before the biggest table at the track, about 60-70 feet. Anyway heres the video my g/f got some of the carnage on video. you can see on the jump b4 the table where the bottom of the shock falls through. Luckily i am fine just a sore elbow and butt. Bike carnage includes elka shaft snapped in half, bent tie rod, bent handlebars, broke thumb throttle.

So my lesson would include CHECK OVER ALL BOLTS BEFORE RIDING

nasty stuff! glad your ok.

you can see the front right wheel getting funky as you landed off the single before the table
Matt D
yea i wish i could put up frame by frame. on my camera you can see me look down right after i get in the air and i was just thinking what the hell was wrong. because my shock left drag marks all the way up the table, i still made it 3/4 of the way across the table in the air then when i landed it just launched me. I still dont know how i didnt get hurt i guess wearing full gear helps alot.

damn dude, you can see where it comes apart just before the table! Glad to hear you walked away with only a lesson learned. Think I will go out and check my Elkas now!

Dam thats crazy...im gunna check all my bolts tomorow. That could of been a much worse outcome, it definatly sucks that you broke some parts though.

There is a cotter pin in that lower bolt. I just put my Elka rear shock on today. Did you forget it when the shock was installed? Either way glad to hear your OK.

Edit: i just realized it was his front shock, my bad.
Sidewinder
His front shock fell off.

There should be a head on one end of the bolt, and the hole with a pin through the other side.
When I got my new Axis shocks an GT thunder billet linkage there was no head on the bolt!
Luckily it never fell out but was a couple bucks that could have turned into quite the expense..
I'm honesty surprised it never fell out, and how long has it been broken??
EVERYONE CHECK YOURS!

Matt D
wow thats scarry.. well my front one fell off, i wish they had a pin for the fronts too.
Defiant
Just feel lucky you got tossed away from the quad and, didn't get wadded up in it.

*EDIT*
Just realized, said incident happened a year ago.
