Who has switched from the yfz to the ktm? I took a contacting job in Iraq so when i get home i either want to drop about 5k in the yfz, Stem, flexx bars, a-arms, beedlock, shock conversion, some engine work ect. My olny beef with the yfz is not having reverse. If you have switched to the KTM let me know if you think the switch was worth it, or if you would have rather kept your yfz.

I have run into 4 people in the last few weeks that have the KTM 525XC. They all love them for everything but Mx. They told me the power is great, the ride is soft, but the frame geometry is slightly off, and they are not the best overall handling when racing MX. One person told me that he thought the rake was off. 1 came from a Suzuki 400, 1 from a Honda 450R and 2 had YFZ's prior. I think for the money that KTM wants for their quads, everyone is expecting the quad to be flawless.

I was also warned that some of the motors were letting go after 30 hrs of hard use, but I think that is probably the case with any brand out there.

Just don't buy it know. I was writing it here, we had 3 at training camp and all 3 broke, they were brand new. One of theirs problem is that tank bolts are making holes in them (friend changed 3 already) and airbox has design flaw (1kg sand inside with lid while my yfz with no lid maybe some dust)

Ask your dealer maybe there fixed some issues now.

I would wait for a ktm, suzuki, honda, yamaha, all made major changes in the 3rd year of production. More than likely ktm will also. You are probably better off on a yfz for now, plus the yfz is getting something new for 09. Have to wait and see what that is for sure.

Been looking at as many web sites as i can find on the KTM. I think i will wait they seam to have alot of small problems and for the price people dont seam to impressed with them. Ill be over here till March09 so i got time to wait. Hopfully sombody will break a sneak peak on the new YFZ around summer time. If KTM doesnt get the bugs worked out, and the new YFZ doesnt have reverse, im going to lean toward a Raptor.

My uncle just bought the 525xc and has put about another 2k into it for misc stuff (engine upgrades, steering stabilizer blah blah)

After this weekends sand trip he's rather disappointed with his purchase. With the money he's spent he could have built a very very nice YFZ. The retail price is over $9k where as the YFZ can be had for much much less.

The bike is nice, but its not insanely faster then my stock yfz. It is smoother but long travel and shocks will make mine much nicer then his. It also just feels wierd in the air.

I've ridden it in both trails and sand and so far for the $$ not impressed and either is he. Go with the YFZ and put the money you would have saved into it.
