My friend Katie had called me earlier on today and she is a photography class for college and she had to take pictures in motion. She asked if I could come out and do some of my wheelies and stoppies on my fourwheeler for her, before she went back to school and started rodeo'n. I had ridden it straight from my house in town to her house out in the country. On my way back to town I stopped at my brother-in-law's fab shop to meet a guy that I will be starting work for on tuesday. Well My bro decided he wanted to rip it up a bit on the quad. I told him to put the helmet on and he refused and said I'm not gonna do nothin stupid. Well he proceeded to slide around on the dirt a bit and came around the side of the building sideways. I was about 50 feet from him and saw the quad slid sideways in the dirt at about 30 mph.

I knew he wasn't going to pull out of it and the next thing I know he flies int he air and the front left tires lands straight on his forehead then flips long ways about 5 ft in the air and lands on his chest. I have never ran so fast I threw my coat off while I was running and yelled dial 911. It took his buddy 4 tries to get the number in because he was shaking so bad. When I got to him the fourwheeler was still laying on his chest and I just grabbed the bumper and nerfbars and threw it as hard as I could which ended up being about 15 ft, and I dove to his side. He was knocked out when I got to him and came to about 30 seconds later. First thing he did was tried jumping up and I yelled stay still and lightly pushed him back to the ground incase something was broken.

They had to dispatch an ambulance from the next closest town because our ambulance was on it's way back from a call.. Well they ended up beeting the other town there but anyways when the cop had gotten out of the car he was dispatching life flight. Right as my bro came to and I got him to respond. All I asked for was for him to wiggle his fingers and toes and tell me his name. He did just that and I asked what just happened and his exact words were "I just w00terin wrecked and It w00tering hurts" While screaming. They ended up calling life flight off and they loaded him in the ambulance and took him to the nearest Hosp.

When he got there they called life flight to come pick him up because when they ex-rayed him they thought he had a cracked vertebrae in his neck. After life flight picked him up and took him to a bigger hospital I got a call from my sister saying that so far all they have found is 3 broken ribs, a broken shoulder plate, broken collar bone, and a severe concusion. He has to stay in Icu for 3 days until they can clear him of any hemeraging (sp).

I just cant get the picture running through my mind to stop. Especially since my neice his daughter's are 10 and 7 and those were the first pictures that went into my mind as I was running to him. I don't want him to be another statistic that was hurt due to not wearing a helmet but I know it's too late. He is a verye xperienced rider and had raced dirtbikes competetively in his younger years and I just want everyone to know that even the most experienced rider can lose control just sliding around.

As far as I know he is in stable condition. I am just asking for everybody to pray for him, his daughters, and his wife. Thank you!

One prayer to the BIG MAN sent. I wish him a speedy recovery. When he is out and on his way to recovery, go buy him a helmet, and have his kids give it to him.....He is lucky to be alive.

Rule #1: Always, always, wear your protective gear!!

The Ironic thing about that is that hat he was wearing had a welder wearing all his protective gear on it and under it it said "I always wear protection"

Just a little update. He's doing alot better and off the morphine drip. They found that ribs 3-8 on his left side were broken (the ones that protect your heart) which punctured his left lung. He also had a broken shoulder blade, broken collar bone, Lotsa bruising and swelling. He's very lucky. They should be sending him home tomorrow I'll get some pics of the quad when I can even stand to look at it.

Thanks everybody!
