it cranks up fine, runs great but after a few minutes if you stop it sputters and goes dead. you can choke it and it starts right up, now this tell me it may be too lean on the bottom, but it has been running fine for a year, anything else that can make it do this.?

Pull the carb off and blow out all the venturi and orifices. Sounds like you may have some dirt or foreign particles floating around in the carb. When you are riding at different throttle positions, you are using different circuits in the carb, but upon returning to idle, something is trying to plug up the tiny little pilot jet circuit. Make sure that your tank is free of debris while you are at it, and add a fuel filter if you do not already have one.

yea i did that today and it did not help really at all, it runs fine under throttle and all no hesitation at all, i do need to get a fuel filter maybe a plug havent changed it in a while.

have you done any modifications to the air box? My buddy had one for his son and had the same problems we drilled some holes in the air box lid/ block off and it ran fine at idle, the other issue he had was the choke sticking
