Hey guys, I havent been on here in a while, but ive still been racin. Pretty much given up the mx for xc, just seems to fit me better. I have run 2 gncc races this year(john penton and the stomp) and several of the virginia xc series races. My rear carrier went out(bearings trashed, egged the carrier) and I have resorted to using spare o5 tie rods and ends on my o6, so I need to replace them. I was just wondering what carrier you guys use(brand and greasable, or sealed). And what type and brand of rods and ends to use. I have seen the hym type ends, which work good on mx, but i am afraid the mud and water of xc would eat them up. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Just use the 06 ends w GT Thunders new heavy duty tie rods.

No clue about carriers ye tthough, Knock on wood mine is ok.

i have the new asr pro racer tie rod hiem (sp?) joints they work awesome so far

do you feel the grit and water in the joints once you go through creeks or mud?

Do NOT use any open ends, and only use stock 06 and up ends. They are not even that expensive and I have them in stock. I have tie rods in the works, just never got them completed yet. I have billet aluminum dual row carriers for 06 and up also. Watch out for the chinese crap also! My parts are all made in the USA!

No not at all they work awesome and i've been in xtremely muddy and xtremely dry... I recomend them!!

I have a 05 and was bending the rods every race, so I bought some stainless steel rods. Well after that I started to break the tie rod ends. After breaking two of those I bought Ricky stator tie rods and ends kit. And they are greeseable and stronger than $&!#. The only problem I had was I had to take off the greese certs and grind some of the tops off on the two ends that connect to my stem.

If you are looking for a really nice bearing carrier I would recommend a RPM Tapered bearing Carrier. It is more expensive than the twin row, but will handle side loading a whole lot better, since it uses tapered bearings in the carrier.

do you run one of these carriers? I have heard mixed reviews on them, some say they do handle side load better but they do not handle the radial loads as well?

I don't personally run one, but when I need to replace my carrier, this was the one I was planning on upgrading to.

The only problem with tapered bearing carriers is that people don't know how to tighten them and you need to watch that very closely. When I have tie rod kits, I will post them.

Go back with stock 2006 tierod ends.

And go with the stock carrier and stock bearings. They're stronger and last longer than any I've ran. And you can find a new or an almost new one on flebay for around $100.
