I have a great yz250 motor and I want to put it in a blaster frame to drag with. Has anyone done this? Any help would be great. thanks

everything will revolve around the engines output shaft. if you move it any further foward from the stock blasters engine's position, you'll have alot more chain slap when the suspension goes through its travel. so your going to want to measure the distance between the center of the pivot and the center of the shaft of the blaster engine. you'll want that distance to be the same, if not less. from there, its either left or right. you must have the engine sprocket and axle sprocket perfectly in line. if not, you'll be throwing chains left and right.

im not sure if the bike engine uses the pivot bolt as an "engine mount" like the YFZ and blaster, but i really doubt you'll be able to use it if it does.

from there, just take note on how the YFZ engine is held in place. make mounts simillar and you should be good to go.

post up some pictures if you get a chance! i'd really like to see that setup in a MX quad some time.

Yeah, i saw that old article about Macdizzy's blaster, that was a nice one. We are probally gonna bulid it to drag race, but if not i am going to sell the motor carb and electornics all together. thanks for the tip on the alignment (fast_man58), i would have never thought of that. Anyone have a cheap blaster chasis? or have one you may want to trade for something.

I have a friend who wanted to put a YZ250 dirt bike motor in his blaster for mx and flate track racing. But he doesn't know what he wants to do right now. I told him that if he wants to race mx, he should invest in performance shocks, and not use stock for mx racing, because he will bottom them out too much and blow them, and he took that into thought, so now he is still thinking of what he wants to do. I told him I could buy him the motor on ebay and the parts he would need to make it fit in his frame, and stuff. But he is probably going to get a YZ250 motor to put in his blaster to race with.

cool idea , I bought a blaster wonce , an 88 model, the guy that had it was going to do the same thing. I would love to do a project like that. maybe you could email that company or some thing and get some pointers on what to do . as far as mods , like motor brackets

Well I have decided not to build the yz/blaster now bc i need to put some time into my yfz. If any of you are interested I would be willing to part with my YZ motor, carb, and electornics. The motor is a 2001 with a fresh topend and vforce reeds, it also has a pipe and sclincer. Its is currently on a running bike but i dont like dirt bikes so i am parting it out. Make some offers if interested.

how much for just the yz250 motor itself? My friend is still looking for a yz250 motor for his blaster. He is only looking to spend $500 on a YZ250 motor, so let me know, and if you will sell the motor for $500, just the motor, nothing else, then you might have a buyer to buy it right now. let me know.

I am trying to sell as a complete set, let me give it a few more days.
