Does anyone ride the trails around the Cajon Pass, Lake Silverwood, or The Pinnacles? Wondering if the trail from the Pinnacles really goes to the back side of the lake to the water.

its defintly fun up there but you must watch out there are fire roads you can follow and a side trail that can be kinda hairy with deep rain ruts. make sure you have a spark arester. also go to the gas station to get your adventure pass for 5 bucks. or they may sick you with a ticket if your not there when they inspect. there is also people that ride out there kinda like rangers that will write you with a ticket also.

Im not sure if I will be able to...I jacked up my swingarm skidplate up there Thursday...its bent pretty bad and rubbing the chain, Ill have to take it to work on Monday bend it back and re-weld the cracks...pretty crazy, its made out of .25" alum. Im going to have to take a sledge to it to bend it back.

i've ridden in the red section a handful of times but every time we go we want to ride the blue section.

i saw a fire road entrance near the closest corner of the lake that i marked. its a drive way/exit off the 138, there is a paves road for a few hundred yards and then a couple circular driveways/parking areas. not far after that there is the fire road. do you know if it is legal the ride here?

we never feel like packing it up to go find out and waste half our day on an area where we can't ride.

this is a close up of the area in question. this area, from what i've seen on google earth, has a fire road that looks like it goes all the way up to crestline area.

does anyone know if this area is legal?
gas it!!
bringin it to the top.

I think so, thats Cleghorn Rd. ....closer to the the 15 is another way to get to that rd. If you are going from the freeway towards the lake. Just after the tight switchbacks there is an OHV sign on the right, it is a dirt rd. that goes up a hill where there is a staging area. the trails from there go back to the freeway in one direction and the others go towards the top of the mountains. Ive only been a little way up the mountains because ive always gone alone. Those trails should go all the way to where you pointed out in that zoomed in pic. That looks like a pretty long ride, and the trails are pretty rough...not like the ones between silverwood and the pinnacles.

i can't find the ones that go up the mountain.

i've ridden off of Cleghorn and gone in both directions from there. up the fire road and down the road that goes along the freeway and comes to an end like a mile or so later.

i've ridden both trails that are near the staging area that you get too from the 138. they both end up coming together. if you head south or east, whichever it is, from the staging area, it splits up into about 3 main "looking" trails. one goes to Cleghorn, one ends at the 138, and the other one is kinda knarly and then ends up back on the trail that ends at the 138.

am i missing a trail?

"after further review of the play."
"i was confused"

you said thats Cleghorn Trail. and you said Cleghorn trail goes all the way up. you were right and you totally answered my questions. i zoomed in on google maps and the one i'm looking for is called "Cleghorn Trail" or "Road" i thought you meant the exit........anyways........i'm rambling......and probably not making sense.

but you answered my question.

thanks.

this area is right in my back yard,,,anyone going for a ride here hit me up and ill show u around....or u can show me somewhere new....
gas it!!
i'm gonna start right at Silverwood Lake and ride up through to Crab Flats or farther in a couple weeks.

the ranger i talked to said its only like a 10 miles ride to Pinnacles. looks more like 12 or 13.

we're gonna start on Pilot Rock and go from there. take the map, a little extra gas and see how it goes. :)

the blue is where we plan on riding. we'll have to see when we get there and how gas is.

here is a closer look. if anyone wants the .pdf's let me know i can email them to you. or you can get them from CA's Ranger website.
