what sould an '05 yfz with curtis sparks pipes, k&n filters, and cam retard do against a banshee with FMF pipes, K&N filters, reeds and spacers? I stay about even with them till they hit 6th. Is that about right or is there something wrong with my yfz.

thats about right just remember a banshee has crazy power band and a xtra gear so it sound about right

sounds about right to me.. that extra gear really helps them

depends on how long your race is and what the race conditions are. I have whooped on banshees with fmfs k&n cool head and lightend flywheels in sand drag races. I was just piped k&n and cam mod then. The races I do are 200 to 300 yard sand hill climbs and I weigh nothing for my height so I have an advantage there. most people only pull 3rd in these races I consistently pull 4th again its the weight thing.

I dont know my banshee has cool heads, v force reeds , toomey t5 pipes , and adjustable timming plate , and its a bigtime difference in power compaired to my 450's. I haven't raced them yet but you can just tell , by riding it. my yfz isnt stock , by any means , neather is my 450r.

i can useally beat banshee with equal mods in a shor trace but in the long run the have mroe topend. and down hill i hit rev limiter. take them in the woods or a mx track and race em they wont even come close to a 450.....

yeah on a track or something like that you eat up a banshee , but its a different story dragging one. I can get a bigger rush from my banshee than I ever could on my 450's

i concur to tabove statement for sure.. ive had all those mods and lost numerous times to a fofiddy.. hell even to my stock fo fiddy with cam mod no lid and no baffle.. rejeted pullin 45hp.. beats my banshee.. yup time for a top end!

How can you guys tell this other guy to race a banshee on a MX track, when no one even knows this person let alone knows his MX skills.

I used to race mx on a Banshee, and would stomp on all kinds of bikes. AND also get beat by all kinds of different bikes.

MX isnt all about the bike,

Put Joe Byrd on a stock TRX450r, and someone in this thread on his fully built trx, and I guarantee he would still smash everyone.


BUT ANYWAY. Drag racing is the same thing. RIDER ABILITY. If you guys are equal talented/ weight riders, then the race should be pretty equal.

I have a fully built YFZ523 on methanol, and there's been some minor modded banshees keep up with me. There's soo much you can do to a banshee to make them fast, and so little you can do, BUT if it's done right it would be huge gain.

I 'm going to just have to see if he'll out run me in a drag race . I can tell just from riding both the banshee is going to outrun it . I have the hrc kit in my 450r and I still can tell the banshee will outrun it . some people might not beleive me . hell I can tell that my yfz has more power than my 450r , I feel like I could pretty much put money on it that I'll outrun him on a stock 450r. I've be wrong before , but this time I feel pretty confident about this.

It all boils down to this. The 450 is a track bike. I get alot of people of the line, but they always catch me on the flat.

Banshee for the drags and the 450 for everything else.

I weigh 260 so I have a little disavantage, but when my banshee was just piped, cool head, and filter, the bone stock YFZ's would just bearly walk away from me going up the drag hill at sand mountain NV. This hill is fairly steep and very long, you can only pull so much gear up the hill so its an all out HP to weight contest and my shee wouldn't pull 4th real solid. The YFZ's would put several lenghts on me by the top. I got smoked my this hot 100# blond chick that passed me like I was standing still on a YFZ that was just as hot as her. Wish I could get a rematch with my 4 mil cub.

Some people can ride banshee's pretty good on the track.
