try mountain biking i run alot on the treadmill and lift free weights for upper body. cardio is everything in a race though. if u dont have it your not gunna finish. if you do finish you wont wanna drive home that day. remember to hydrate!

I thought i was in shape until my first xc race..... OMG! I did finish the race but i was hitting the thottle with any object i could. sometimes I was even hitting it with the ball of my palm etc... Also I got so weak i coudn't pull the clutch in any more so i just only used it when i absolute had to. But the race was a complete swamp so that could of effected my serious Arm pump, but i highly doubt it. I've been working with a forearm squeeze device and i think its helping.

I just had my 2nd race of the season last weekend ( I took 4 months off due to a broken rib) and I never felt worse. I had to drop after about 1 hour 15 minutes (2 hour race). I think that riding /practicing for long durations is a great way to train. After the 3rd race of the season last year; fatigue was never an issue.

I run on a treadmill and also ride a BMX bike on some parts of my xc track and that helps alot with cardio. For the arm pump....I read about this excersize called non-resistance training and what you do is take a curl bar and curl it five times with about 30lbs on it and then do five pull-ups. Do that over and over and your arms will get that same effect as arm pump and u just keep going and doing more and more every time you do it. No more arm pump for me

I do anything physical that i can. I ride bmx, run, tread mill, lift, play basketball, but one of the most things that give me a great work out is riding my little honda z50 around the little track that i made at home. that thing will wear the w00ter outta me no matter what i do.. i ride it everyday no matter what... But also I keep hydrated and just keep my mind clear...
