Looking to go to Silver Lake the second weekend in June... anyone in?
Can anyone tell me how it is set up for camping, can you stay close enough to the dunes that you do not have to move your whole rig to go riding.

Here is a few nice links for you:
http://www.atvillustrated.com/feature_arti...ages/orvmap.JPGthat is a map of the dunes.
the parking lot is where you park your truck/trailer to unload to go into the dunes. A trailer can't be pulled into the dunes, but you can't put a cooler (with no glass/beer) in your truck as well as your quad and driving into the dunes.
http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-1...34760--,00.htmlthis link will tell you more than anything you want to know. MAKE SURE you read about vouchers, that will ruin your trip if you DON'T understand!!! I'm not B.S. HERE CALL THEM READ this---->
click here<--- do whatever you have to do just make sure you understand.
As for camping its cheaper than getting a hotel like I do. There is a jelly stone park there thats about 1 mile north east to the area to get into the dunes here is the camping link for them ----->http://www.silverlakejellystone.com <---
there is others as well here is a list, some are close and some are not
http://www.discoveroceana.com/fall/campgrounds.htmlAs for your orginal question, its hard not having to move your whole rig. Such as a trailer. If you have a camper/tent -leave it at the camp site and put anything worth $$ in the truck or trailer and take it with you. Theft isn't big at all but better safe than sorry.
Here is a overveiw of the area to get you a better understanding of the area. I suggest you print it.
http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/Publications/PD...dune%20map'(((click the pink box's for a zoom in for the dunes, rules or camping locations...The campground in there isn't jelly stone- and this one in the picture above is a little more tough on the rules I hear)))
hope I helped
