I race xc in North Texas and I am looking to get a set of skids for the engine and the swingarm. I was wondering if I should get poly or aluminum skid for the engine? if aluminum, what thickness? What brand? And for the swingarm should I go with Aluminum or a rear sprocket and brake guard, if they make one? what brand? I hit alot of big rocks and some of the trails are rutted out to where I am dragging the bottom of my frame and swingarm. I climb over a lot of big rocks where my i bottom out alot too. And a lot of step up type ledges where if I dont keep the front wheels off the ground it drags. Also, I am curious how a poly skid is that much better than the stock one?

id say get a poly Tag Railer skid. if your constantly sliding over things a poly skid slides over things better than metal. also, poly skids are harder to break becasue they can bend easier than metal. a metal skid will dent and be harder to remove oer time.

This for the 09 R I don't think they make one for the R. And do you have any suggestions for the swingarm?

If you are looking for skid plates hit up daddio on here. He makes his own on a waterjet. They are made out of uhmw and he has been using them for a while. I'm pretty sure he has one for the yfzr since his son races in the pro class.
