well, actually the 450R has been out for only two years. (09-10) both years, unchanged. so if you get a better deal on an 09 go for it.

when you said 450R i assumed you meant YFZ450R, not the regular YFZ. the 450R came out in 2009. the regular came out in 04.
04-06 and some pre-07 models do not come with the oil pin mod. later 2007's have this and so do 08's. it aids in reliability. the older YFZ's also do not come with the Protaper bars. 07+ YFZ's also have an updated clutch according to Dirtwheels.

I dont know iof you wanna beleive everything in Dirtwheels lol
I'd look for an '07 or higher. YFZ's that dont have the oil mod, will blow a wrist pin sooner or later. Causing you about $500.

true that, but im just saying.
yea, X2 for oil mod. and the 07+ models have a lighter thumb throttle compared to my buddies 06.

07 Special editions come with dual compression adjust front shocks, and all 08's and newer come with them, i would look for an 07+, they updated the oiling system like already mentioned, the shocks are better, better bars, relocated rear brake resi, better swing arm, if you can find an 07 or newer, then get the newest model you can find, each year they made some slight improvements over the previous, the 04-05 are basically the same with some cosmetic changes to the head. in 06 they changed the compression and stroke to make the bike a true 450 (04-05 were 439, but a little higher compression, so all years have very simliar power) the 06 model also got the new swingarm and rear shock setup.
