I was throwing around the idea of rippin down the YFZ and doing a total new look and freshen up what needs it, or everything I can afford. Next thing I knew I was pulling plastic and everything in my way. I ended day one with nothing on it but the motor and suspension. Not a bad days work. On day two, there is pretty much nothing left!!! I plan on polishing everything I can, making some of it have a custom look, and others just a new color all together. I have 0 ideas on what color either!! Anyway, here she is... or shall I say...WAS lol

BEFORE

YFZman86
I was real happy to see this... It happened at a TT race early this year when a guy decided his quad needed to "MATE" with mine. $300 later I have some fresh shocks and a fudded up radiator. Believe it or not, the flow actually improved some. Still need to get me a over sized though I think.

YFZman86

I have large plans to be finished before X-mas this year. More then likely it won't happen though. BUT, if we don't make plans, we never fail. If we never fail, we never learn... Keep an eye out for more pics as i get stuff polished, painted, and powdered... Anyone know of a good sand blaster near north east Missouri HAHAHA
quadracer55
cant wait to she it done, what u all want to do?
YammyYFZ07
You should look into maybe doing something like white plastics blue frame with some black rims and something else , that would be a cool setup of those 3 colors i think, cant wait to see it done
YFZman86
I am thinking about a real BRIGHT purple frame with black plastics. I think with the polish jobs I have done so far and the color scheme it will look good. All I really need to do is get some different color hiper rings. blue now... I am thinking about Purple frame, black plastic with "MAYBE" carbon look shrouds and sides. I am wanting to polish the swingarm to but may take a while :D

Quadracer55, I am just freshening the motor, new bearings where I need them, clean-rebuild carb, lube cables... pretty much just a full run down from head to toe. I don't want to take any chances for anything next season. My plan is to run every weekend if possible rather it be XC, MX, FT/TT... anything at all. i am going to put in alot more seat time then I did this year to. Wish I could afford 2 bikes, this would be my race only one...

I have my throttle housing done. Will get pics tomorrow. I think it looks pretty neat and creative. Nothing to fancy yet, still have touch ups to do on it...
SpillDaThrill
I love myself a rebuild! Your idea for the purple frame with black plastics does have some promise. There was a guy awhile back who started a bike along the same color scheme, however, I saw a thread with him selling it not too long ago.

Do you have any pictures of the purple color that you would use? It would help for starting a picture of it in my head.

I have a feeling he's thinking of the candy purple as well but I'm not sure. What other colors are you going with or are you just going all black/candy purple?

Purple Radiator Hoses?? No kidding? I had no idea they even made it in that color. Does CV4 make them?

Yeah icon_biggrin.gif . i will take a pic tonight if i remeber . CV4
SpillDaThrill
Yea man, I'd like to see those. I'd also like to know where you purchased them from. I want to see all the colors they have.
CADWELL
Good luck with your rebuild, they are definately fun. It sounds like it's gonna look pretty badass.

YFZman86
Yea candy purple LMAO I was hoping to be the "odd ball" out here. Seems there will be 2 of us HAHAHA That's awesome! i am going with the purple, black, and some spots of white. I decided to do the hubs in white (all 4) brake stay in white, maybe find someone that can do my calipers in the purple, black arms(all 4) Chrome or white stem... I'm not 100% positive on anything till I get my hands on it and start the job.

lol... yeah you are not alone on that color scheme.. not sure how many more are out there though..lol
SpillDaThrill
Just a suggestion...... what if, instead of doing those parts in white, you did them in Candy Red instead. I think red in general goes good with candy purple but if you took it a step further and did a dark candy red for those parts, I feel that it would really help tie the colors together. That's just my opinion though, the white would look pretty good too I'm sure.
YammyYFZ07
yeah red would go nicely as well red and black go nice together
Jason@HallsATV
wow...am I ever glad I changed my color scheme....lol. I was going to do candy purple frame, hubs, graphics. Black A arms swingarm and plastic. But I got a good deal on a Laeger swingarm and LT A arms that were all blue. So now I'm going with orange, blue, black.
YammyYFZ07
jason you got any pictures of ur quad ? i want to see teh colors

no....right now its a bare frame. I'll be painting my frame in a week or 2, then I can throw the A arms, Swingarm and plastic on real quick to get a picture for you. It'll be orange frame, blue A arms, swingarm, black plastic, orange graphics.
quadracer55
i think the next plastic i buy will be white, NO STRESS MARKS, yea purple would look great, my high school colors are purple and white, i think those to colers would be badass, good luck with build and take a lot of pics
YFZman86
Yea I'm the kind of person that takes pics of dang near everything I do with it in these cases. I was planning on pics today and taking a break from working on it. Little did I know I was gonna get sicks as a mofo and not even go outside. Hoping this is gone quick...
YFZracer61
you should do this purple....

its what i want to do to mine

quadracer55
thats a nice color, is it candy purple?
SpillDaThrill
That's definitely a candy purple.
Dustin
I did purple/black/white on my bike. I don't have any pics of the finished product yet though.

Ahh...I'll always love that bike^^^^....Michelle Natalie's old bike...

YFZman86-First thing that comes to mind of when I read blue and orange is Muff's old bike and it came out really nice! I think that would also be a nice scheme. I thought Laeger's weren't aorund anymore?

DAMN!!! that is SEXY! shocker.gif
YFZman86
Yea that's the general idea of what I am planning. BUT, the orange blue kinda kicks in now... GEE THANKS LMAO

Here are some shots of what I have done so far. I have the dog bone polished and link done also, but will post them when I re-assemble the swinger. SO, here ya go.

YFZman86
The Yamaha on the throttle cover is also polished. Talk about a pain in the arse to get done! The cover on the brake rezi is gloss white, but didn't seem to turn out just like I planned. Still it's going to be nice when everything is bolted back up. I am actually thinking about doing the motor parts (covers and such) in black to offset the purple. I'm sure it will blend REAL nice...
clieg
I think i changed my mind on the purple on my quad... i have all these powder coated candy purple stuff if you are interested. Ill trade for your stock+ a few bucks (engine mounts, starter cover, water pump cover, i think about 8 pieces. )
clieg
PM me i f you are interested
YFZman86
I had to change my color scheme. Sponsors weren't to enthused about purple and black. So I'm going with white, black, and blue I guess. Still waiting on my buddy to get my frame sand blasted then its off to powder. Waiting on him now... Then its time to put back together to send off to the shop for motor work.

HAHAH that sucks
YFZman86
Yea but I can't complain a whole lot. They "hand" me a lot of good parts for basically nothing :D I'm just happy a Honda/Harley shop sponsors me LMAO
YFZman86
I now have my motor set in. Still working on bolting it up since I ran out of light. I got a new front end to... I'm gonna like it!!! Here's a few shots till I get more later on. I'm planning on having the pipe, swinger, and all the wiring ran within a few days. Just taking my time since I don't want to scratch anything. I had the frame inside and set the swinger, bumper and grab bar on. It was like 11 at night when I got it in lol

And my new front end. Just need to get my new bushings and ball joints for them.
MustHaveBeenBlue
i love white.. but it sux once it gets dirty.. you have to not give a w00ter otherwise your going to go crazy trying to keep it clean...
YFZman86
Yea I thought about that to :D I sit out with a dish sponge cleaning all week just making sure I get it clean. Time to get some quick release tabs for the plastic HAHAHA
clieg
where are you getting your quick release tabs?

parts looking good also! :)
CADWELL
Very nice!

These white frame never cease to amaze me, they look great! Can't wait to see the finished product man.

That was kind of a joke. But you can actually do it. The tabs that are holding your door panels on in your vehical work great. There cheap and can either be pulled out or cut off. You can also get zutz tabs like the ones that hold mud covers on your beadlocks. But then you have to weld the lockers in place. To much time there... Headed out to get the front end on and hopefully the swinger done.
YFZman86
It's a bit chilly to be in a small shed like I got to do a lot of work. So here are some mock up pics. No seat, stem, etc... I think it looks pretty nice for my first ever build!!!

YFZman86
I wish I could have got the swinger on to match everything up... Tomorrow it will go on unless we get snow/rain like what is being forcasted... yea... NO!!!

Still have some final polishing to do and the shiny stuff will bring the black/white out NICE!

gas it!!
i'd really like to see your master cylinder and throttle housing all mounted up. just the other day i was staring at my bike while i was on the treadmill, watching Huevos, thinking about taking apart my ASV levers and the restr of the controls and have all the regular finish powdered to a flat black or semi gloss. and i think i might do my Houser clamp too.

my bars are black, my stem is black, my levers are black, and a few other things have been done in black as well on my motor. plus all my Pro Armor stuff is black, even my skids. plus i did all my hard lines to match the color scheme of the rest of my bike. here is mine if you want to take a look. http://yfz450.theatvchannel.com/invision/i...o+spilldathrill

MustHaveBeenBlue
quck release tabs can be found anywhere.. you are suposed to have 2 that hold down your gas tank plastic under your seat for example.. napa probably has a billion
YFZman86
Headed out to turn wrenches... got to much to do by Saturday...

STEM...I sanded it down best I could and was going to sand blast what I couldn't get (time saving). Well with the clamp area still factory color, I had a hair brain idea to leave the bottom polished up (mothers and a good heavy clear coat to keep from rusting) and a good sanding of the clamp area, then rattle canned white, I think it looks pretty neat :D One of a kind LOL
YFZman86
Progress... Swinger and rear shock are on now. Working my way forward and up...

My custom groove job for the RazrMX's. I ran them like this the last race of the year. Got some MAJOR bite...

More to add as I get it done...
Jason@HallsATV
Looking good. White frames always look sexy....just a PITA to keep clean. For a while there it looked like there was going to be alot of us with purple/black....now theres like nobody. lol.
YFZman86
Besides putting cotter keys thru the area's that need them, my nerfs, pipe, and tighten all nuts/bolts... She is COMPLETE!!! Just need to get the bushings/balljoints for the Houser arms and then "OFFICIALLY" call her done. Small things to do tomorrow and it's a waiting game for Houser stuff

Looks HOT!!! (I THINK)
