I just bought new Laker plastics which are awesome but after I took my bike apart and put the new plastics on it won't start. The start button does nothing. I checked all the connections to the battery and the grounds. I double checked all the plugs up front and gave it a try after removing my aftermarket kill switch but still nothing. One thing that happens that is weird, is when I pull the clutch one of the 15 amps fuses blows every time? Any help would be much appreciated! My bike is dead as of right now!

sounds like a short in the system. when you turn the key do you hear a click from the relay near the battery?

Um let me go check... Nope no click. I know the battery is good because I rode it the day before I put the plastics on. The ground for the headlights was beginning fray and seemed a little short so I fixed that but it should effect the starting system anyway. Could it be from water getting into the plugs or relays or anything like that? I did wash it when I pulled the plastics off because whoever owned it before me never washed it and the sub frame was covered in oil. I have read some places it could be the CDI or water in the plugs. I agree with the short idea but I am still stumped.

something is not plugged in correctly. There are a couple plugs that are very simular. Make sure the colors of the wires match on both sides of the connectors.

Or............. you pinched a wire with a bracket. Check everywhere you tightened a bolt, or you may have stripped a wire with a wrench or something.

I figured it out and this is kinda funny because I have been stressing out about what the problem was for a few weeks. I started thinking, why would the fuse blow when I engaged the clutch? Like you all said it had to be because there was something plugged in wrong or pinched.

I woke up with an idea and went outside to look at the two plugs that plug into the relays on the battery and noticed they were the same but different colors. I switched them and it fired right up. Duh! Thanks for all the ideas!
