hey guys, i'm probably going to redo a bunch of powdercoat on my quad soon since my riding season is over. anyone have any good tips to remove existing powdercoat? i tried to just simply sandblast the powdercoaat and that was the biggest waste of time with little progress. anyone have any good tips? thanks

the easyest way to get it off is to have ome one else do it. I'm in the process of redoing mine and I am just going to take to back to the place that did the powder coating and have them blast it and recoat it.

if you get something powder coated you don't need to strip it 99% of the time. I get stuff coated and re-coated all the time for work.
When ever I drop something off they strip it and coat it, even if it's the same color. Most of the time it's included in the cost to get it coated.
If you're doing it your self then chemicals are the only way really.

I use aircraft stripper and some other chemical strippers. A properly coated and cured part will not sand blast off

FIRE.. Burn the powder off is the easiest way to go about it. Ask anyone who does powdercoating and they should know this. Most places will have a propane weed burner type torch to burn the powder off and then sandblast the parts clean.

I might try to burn some off. Never used that. Also heard some strippers might break down magnesium. SpillDaThrill might be able to comment on this...

Started stripping another frame today and forgot how much it sucked. I gave up ill pay the extra money to have it done. Was spraying aircraft stripper on it and letting it sit then hitting it with a wire wheel but it not working as good as last time.
