i have gone through 3 batteries and my bike still will not hold a charge, has anyone had the same problem?

No......... You must have a short somewhere, drawing the battery dead, or your stator or rectifier is bad.

when you park try leaving it in neutral. On my old kfx450r if it wasn't in neutral it would drain the battery. Might be same issue on the yfz.

I heard on certain years you have to leave the headlights on while you ride otherwise it wont charge the battery. This can be fixed with a resistor kit.

That was true in 04 and 05, starting in 06 the "resistor kit" was built into the quad.

What year is the quad in question? I know it's posted in the 450R section but I've seen 450 questions posted in here before.

Well then, that explains it........... Had you been in the YFZ section and not the YFZR section, you would have recieved more help...........
Get the resistor kit or keep it on a battery tender when your not riding it.

I just discovered that Walmart has the battery for a YFZ450R for $35.
