hey everyone i just got my 05 yfz and want to tune it to my riding style. i weight 180 in full gear and ride MX and trails. i really dont know much about how to set it up or even what it should be set at. any help would be great.

thank!

Alright.

Step one- Remove shocks and replace with better aftermarket shocks. Or spend the money to rebuild them.

Even if you do get them set up by yourself, you'll still be very disappointed in the performance. You can play with them and play with them and the bike will still ride like a buckboard.

Yep, you're about 30lbs too heavy for the quads stock suspension.

you should set your ride height first, most trail riders prefer around 8-9 inches, with the front 1/2 - 3/4 inches higher.

measure from the ground to the frame just under the front motor mounts, and just behind the foot pegs, that is your front and rear measurements...

you adjust your ride height with the large lock nuts on top of the springs, tighten the springs to raise it. set it with you sitting on it.

adjust the compression and rebound to suit your needs. once you get them dialed in, that is going to be the best you can get out of the stock shocks, you can soften them a little, make them work a little better. and it might be just fine for you. if its not what your looking for, start saving some cash.

How is the pricing at Moto-experts? And what did you have done to the shocks? Revalve or the OEM Conversion?

Thanks

Who is spending 5000 on fox shocks. If you spend that much than something is wrong with you.

if you are running your stocks as stiff as they go, then you have obviously never road a pair of fox shocks, they arent 5000 like yfzrider69 already said. and they ride like a cadillac, they dont land hard, they soak up whoops and any small bumps, they are endlessly adjustable, dont knock it till you try it.

aftermarket shocks are the closest thing to sex on an ATV! (besides the real deal) lol They are so smooth and like "leveldrummer" said..... they are like a cadillac, you can ride over whoops and its not even like they were there. And as far as adjustability....its amazing what you can do. and 5grand? You can get full long travel with elkas front and rear for less than that.
