So My quad just tops out way to fast for me. Ive read that alot of people change the front sprocket from a 14 to a 15, But how much more top end does that really give you. Is the a formula that you can use to find a what speeds you can reach with what size sprockets. I was also told that there is a ratio change on the sprockets like if you change to + or - 1 tooth on the front its equal to + or - 3 on the back, Does anyone know if thats true.

if you add a tooth in the front, its like loosing 3 teeth in the back. But, the smallest rear sprocket you can have is a 36 (stock is 38)

My next gearing swap is a 36 rear. I dont want a full 15 in the front. And rear sprockets are much easier to change.

So going down in the rear will give me better top end, but is there a way of calculating how much Ill gain.

divide your drivenn gear by your drive gear, giving you your ratio. Thats as far as i know for ratios and that.

ex: 38/14=2.714 ratio

If you're topping out at 60 mph and you add one tooth to the front and drop two in the rear, your top speed will then be around 68 mph.

So you go up in teeth to add more topend. But how much do you gain per teeth in the topend, front isnt a big deal to change cause its only like 20 bucks but the rears are like 60 so I dont want to have to buy to many.

I have the following mods and the last time I ran my quad at top speed I think it was 74 mph. I know it was in the 70's.

Stock tires
Hotcam's - intake and exhaust cams
LRD full system exhaust
K&N air intake
stock CDI
Front gear is a 15 and rear is stock

About a year ago I got a aftermarket CDI box and installed it but have not done another top speed fun yet.
