Has anyone put NOS on the 09 R yet?
If not I will be putting mine on next week and will be going to the dunes to see what will happen. I will keep everyone posted. This post has been edited by 2-smoke killers: Nov 1 2009, 08:45 PM |

Has anyone put NOS on the 09 R yet? If not I will be putting mine on next week and will be going to the dunes to see what will happen. I will keep everyone posted. I ran nitrous on my TRX 250r a few years back but most of the same principals apply to any quad you're going to run this stuff on. It kicked the w00ter out of most everything I ran against except for, at the time, really built alcohol banshees. I will give you several pieces of advise - Make sure your system is set up with extreme care or done by very competent and trustworthy professionals. I did it myself and made sure I took all the time necessary to get it right. All wiring should be soldered and joints shrink wrapped, etc.. Pressure sensors, etc. If you screw around and something goes wrong you will BLOW THE CYLINDER OFF THAT THING and probably right in your crotch! In my opinion your biggest problem will be bottle pressure and the continuous issues with that as they are so small and temperature has a big effect. It's not like a car where you can put an electric blanket on it to keep it a constant pressure. I used ice, torches and different methods depending on whether to try to keep the pressure I wanted in my bottle, that was the biggest problem and a huge pain in the ass with nitrous on a quad. You want a steady constant pressure but with the little bottles that's very hard to obtain. you may be good for a run or two but then it starts changing, blah blah blah. In my opinion it was fun for awhile but got to be to much of a pain than it was worth after the fun kinda wore off. I ran mine stealth too, so nobody new what I was running, that was sweet to watch all those dudes wonder how the hell I beat them so badly, lol. Don't get me wrong, nitrous will make that thing absolutely SCREAM and it is SICK! Just do it right or not at all. JMHO... |

Oh, and one more thing, you better put a fat swingarm on that thing if you expect to hold it down! that sh*t doesn't play! I've seen dudes flip these things when the bottle hits and break their back!

I think you've been watching a little too much fast and furious. A friend of mine was shooting oldsmobile (Glamis) and the bottle hit and it litterally kicked him 10 to 15 feet into the air. He came down head first. Now he's rolling in a wheel chair. I've seen the same thing happen to many over the years. I love power and nitrous is great when used with respect. Regarding your comment, the only thing fast and furious is your naivete and lack of respect for other people on this board friend... |

Well Im gonna need a lot more persuading to beleive that story. Details man, details..... If you must know, it was 1998 at Glamis, my friend (more of an acquaintance) was running a full tilt 330cc 2-stroke alcohol 3 wheeler hill shooter, 11 in. swing-arm with nitrous, etc. I remember him getting thru the whoops and hitting the bottle, the bike came straight up and about 5 feet off the ground, his body went another couple feet up, at that point he was probably 15 feet off the ground falling backwards and down. He landed on his head and broke his back, he was air vaced out. If that's not detailed enough for you I can get you his phone number, I'm sure he'd love to discuss it with you... As I said before, this isn't the only time I've seen people with nitrous do this sort of thing. My original post was to help or inform someone who is looking into nitrous not persuade you to believe anything. If you need drama, watch Opra! |

my father built a nitrous 1200cc hybrid snowmobile, watercraft drag sled with nitrous that i drag in the winter.. when on the button the fast and the furious do add a bit to the effect but without a doubt there is easily triple the g forces on your body.. the sled has a 100hp shot going into the triple engine
